So the king and Haman went to the banquet that Esther had prepared. 2 And the king said again to Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be given you; and what is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom, it shall be performed.”
Then Esther the queen answered and said, “If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.”
The king said, “Make haste, and bring Haman quickly, that we may do as Esther has said.” So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
Then the queen Esther answered, and said, “A certain adversary and enemy, even this wicked Haman!” Then Haman was terrified before the king and the queen. 6 And the king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine into the palace garden; but Haman stood up to make supplication for his life to Queen Esther; for he saw that the king had determined to destroy him.
And the king returned from the palace garden to the house of the banquet; and Haman had fallen upon the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even force the queen before me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.
And Harbona, one of the eunuchs of the king, said, “Behold also the gallows, fifty cubits high, which Haman has made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman.” Then the king said, “Hang him thereon.” 9 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the wrath of the king was pacified.
