Job 30

But now they that are younger than I, in whose eyes I esteemed myself not, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock,

They are carried away, they cried upon them, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the foxes of the earth.

Yea, they are brutish children, void of understanding, which have not known the days of adversity, and they have not gone in the ways of affliction;

Who were driven from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;) to dwell in the deserts, in the caves, and in the holes of the ground.

Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.

They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.

And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.

They abhor me, they flee from me, and spare not to spit in my face.

Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also cast off the bridle before me.

Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.

They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.

They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.

And now my soul is poured out within me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.

My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my gnawing pains take no rest.

By great force my garment is disfigured; it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.

He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.

I cry unto you, and you do not hear me: I stand, and you regard me not.

You are cruel to me with your strong hand: you lift me up, and cast me down.

You increase your terrors upon me, and compass me with all your waves.

You have removed my acquaintance far from me; you have made me abhorred of them: I am separated, and gone out of their sight.

As the mountain falling cometh to naught, and the rock is removed out of its place;

The waters wear the stones: the floods wash away the dust of the earth; so you destroy the hope of man.

You overpower him for ever, and he passeth: you change his countenance, and send him away.

His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; they are brought low, and he perceiveth it not of them.

But he shall not be quiet, nor shall his soul be at rest, nor shall he be delivered from the hand of the oppressor.

And he shall draw near unto the grave, and his house shall mourn, and the worms shall cover him.
