Job 36

¹ Elihu also proceeded, and said, Suffer me a little, and I will shew you; for I have yet to speak on God’s behalf.

² I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

³ For truly my words are not false: one that is perfect in knowledge is with you.

⁴ Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

⁵ He preserveth not the life of the wicked, but giveth right to the poor.

⁶ He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings upon the throne he setteth them for ever, and they are exalted.

⁷ And if they be bound in chains, and taken in the cords of affliction;

⁸ Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

⁹ He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

¹⁰ If they hear, and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

¹¹ But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

¹² But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

¹³ They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

¹⁴ He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

¹⁵ Even so the hypocrite remaineth in his wickedness: he is exalted, and he destroyeth himself.

¹⁶ He is taken away in his iniquity, and he dies without knowledge.

¹⁷ But the righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

¹⁸ The righteous shall see their end, and the wicked shall perish, and they that have forsaken God shall be cut off.

¹⁹ He giveth rain upon the earth, and blesseth the works of men.

²⁰ He sendeth snow like wool, and scattereth the hoar frost like ashes.

²¹ He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?

²² He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

²³ He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and judgments unto Israel.

²⁴ He hath not dealt so with any nation: neither have the heathen knowledge of his judgments.
